Meggitt Polymer Solutions
Although Al Calabria, president of Meggitt Polymer Solutions wasn’t involved in the aerospace company when it first relocated to McMinnville (it was formerly Elastomeric Silicone Products, Inc.), he was aware that MIP owned the 85,000 square foot industrial buildings that house its current manufacturing facilities. When a defective backflow valve began causing issues, he made contact with MIP.
He and the MIP Board met and developed a cost-sharing plan to replace the valve. “Not only was the issue resolved,” explained Calabria, “but we got to know each other better. The people that I’ve met on the Board have all been very responsive. We invited the Board to an open house and they were impressed with the improvements we made. And we’ve since become more involved in the community.”
“We are both in a small community and anything we can do to help each other contributes to job sustainment and growth,” added Calabria. “In manufacturing, you have to remain cost competitive. Anything we can do to keep costs down will save jobs here.”
